Move to Shopify with a clear migration plan

Moving platforms is not only a data import. The new store needs to support your products, content, buying experience and operational workflows, while important old URLs and launch dependencies are addressed.

I provide Shopify migration planning and development with a scope based on your source store. Transferable data, features that need rebuilding and work involving external providers are identified before the move.

01 / Detail

Understand what needs to move

We begin with the current platform, catalog, customers, order history, content, app data and custom functionality. Different datasets may need different transfer methods, and not everything moves automatically through a CSV file.

The assessment distinguishes what can be transferred, what needs an app or API, what must be rebuilt and what may not be portable. Product options, publishing states and relationships between records need validation after import.

Plan the new storefront and integrations

The project may keep the current design direction or include an approved redesign. Theme, Figma, B2B, app and integration requirements are scoped explicitly so they do not become hidden assumptions in a migration quote.

Replacement apps may differ in functionality, data portability or ongoing fees. We review the critical operational workflows rather than assuming the new platform reproduces them without changes.

Map important URLs and content

We inventory relevant old URLs, map destinations and check which redirects the platform can support. Metadata, internal links and key content should be reviewed alongside the new routes.

This work reduces avoidable errors; it does not guarantee unchanged rankings or traffic. Redirect limitations and search-engine processing mean an absolute “SEO-safe” promise would be misleading.

Validate before and after launch

The scope defines data checks, representative shopping journeys, payment/shipping configuration responsibilities, integrations, analytics checks and release coordination. Backups, the final data update and any rollback arrangements are agreed for the project.

Post-launch checks identify missing content, broken links and unresolved workflow issues. The duration and responsibilities of support are stated rather than described as unlimited.

Migration questions

Can all our data move? Transferability depends on the source, data type and tools. It is assessed before promising complete coverage.

Will we keep our design? Some elements may be recreated, but platform and theme structures differ. We agree the required design and functionality rather than promising an identical automatic transfer.

Can you guarantee no downtime or ranking change? No. We plan the release and validation to manage risk, but do not guarantee outcomes outside the implementation.

Share the source store

Send your current platform, store URL, catalog scale, key apps/systems, required data and preferred launch window. We can identify the scope and dependencies of the move.

For US projects, include your team’s time zone if it matters for reviews or meetings.
